Erica had her dance performance with her school in December, the had a show at the high-school with music from the 50s till now.
We enjoyed the 90 minutes performance.
As we do each year we went to the German Christmas service. I think this year with the biggest group however we have been nine people with only two native speakers, but Lettie sings with just an enthusiasm and reads so perfect German that it is a pleasure. This is one of those our longest traditions and it's fun to go there. We had a week with temperatures in the high -20s actually with the windchill in the mid -30s, but we are used to it. There wasn't too much snow what's the code at least till mid December who knows what's coming in the second half.
And yes it got even worse for a couple days in mid December when we had wind chill in the -40s. We also start planning an income suite - to have it ready for fall 2017. We are just in the first planning stage, and we have a contractor who will help us with our Ideas.
Nicole had her Xmas concert at school, each class had a little performance. And the 2 nights before Xmas we where Dog/house sitting again for our awesome neighbours.
Christmas was very relaxing and I was off for the days in between the holidays. Xmas eve we had a late lunch and than went to church from 7-8pm and had cheese fondue after. Lettie and I went over to Bob and Lois after and enjoyed a couple drinks. That's we also went on Christmas Day after we opened our presents. They had us over for an early dinner and drinks, which was very very nice.
On the 27th we went to Raymond and had a nice afternoon at one of Lettie's friends Xmas party. Nicole liked that there where a lot of kids to play with. Lettie's 50th birthday was on the 28th and I had a surprise for her, I contacted some of our friends in oversea to send me some short video clips for her birthday, and she was really touched by that. In the afternoon we went on a date to Hudson's pub for a snack a drink, and later we had Bob and Lois over for a birthday dinner. We celebrated Lettie's birthday on December 30 at the Lethbridge casino. We were close to the stage to listen to some live music and we had round about 20 to 25 off Lettie's friends celebrating with us. We stayed in a hotel close to the Casino where we had checked in at 3 pm. We had a fun time with the kids at the pool and we ordered pizza to the room. New Year's Eve, was a relaxing day. Erica had to work though at the Coast Hotel. Lettie Nicole and I watched a movie at home.
Goodbye 2016 - welcome 2017
Erica hatte eine Tanzveranstaltung in ihrer Schule, wo sie auch auf der Bühne war. Die Schulband spielte Musik aus den Fünfzigern bis zur Gegenwart und es war recht unterhaltsam. Und wir sind auch wie jedes Jahr wieder zu dem deutschen Gottesdienst gegangen wo deutsche Weihnachtslieder gesungen werden, anschließend gibt es immer Kaffee und Kuchen. Der Dezember hatte anfangs Temperaturen in den -20 bis -30° Bereich danach wurde es etwas besser allerdings hatten wir dann doch einigen Schnee und Temperaturen im -40° Bereich mit dem Windfaktor. Wir planen für 2017 in unserem Haus eine einlieger Wohnung einzurichten. Da Erica bald nicht mehr mit uns wohnen wird ist das ein guter Weg ein weiteres Einkommen zu haben. Natürlich steht ihr die Wohnung zur Verfügung falls Sie sich entscheiden sollte mit uns zu leben während sie studiert, wahrscheinlich wird sie aber nach ihrem einem Jahr Auszeit dann in 2018 in Calgary studieren. Nicole hatte ihr Weihnachtskonzert in der Schule und in der selben Woche haben wir wieder einmal auf das Haus und den Hund unserer Nachbarn aufgepasst, Nicole und ich ziehen dann immer bei unseren Nachbarn ein solange sie uns brauchen. Am Weihnachtsabend hatten wir nach der Kirche ein Käse Fondue bei uns zu Hause und am ersten Weihnachtstag sind wir dann bei unseren Nachbarn zum Essen gewesen. Da ich 1 1/2 Wochen frei hatte konnte ich dann auch unter der Woche in ein einer Nachbargemeinde mit Lettie und Nicole fahren da wir dort zu einer weiteren Feier eingeladen waren. Natürlich war nach Weihnachten auch Lettie's 50. Geburtstag. Ich habe als Überraschung unsere Freunde in Übersee gefragt ob sie uns einen Geburtstags Video Clip senden können, so hatten wir Video Glückwünsche aus Deutschland Holland und Japan und einen Anruf aus Irland. Lettie und ich hatten sogar die Zeit ohne Kinder an ihrem Geburtstag auf ein Date zu gehen. Ihre Geburtstagsfeier war dann am 30. Dezember im Spielcasino, nicht dass wir gespielt hätten, aber es gab dort Livemusik und circa 20-25 Freunde haben mit uns gefeiert. Wir hatten uns in der Nähe des Casinos in einem neuen Hotel mit einem schönen Pool einquartiert, zu hatten wir dort zuerst Spaß mit den Kindern, es gab Pizza und Bier, und dann später sind Lettie und ich ins Casino gegangen. An Silvester haben wir es ruhig angehen lassen, wir haben uns einen Film angeschaut, Erica musste leider arbeiten bis 1 Uhr morgens.
