Family visit from Toronto and party at 609
Nelson BC
Wow so many things happened in July we went to Nelson BC to visit Rachel and Angus we had Mike and Catherine over for a couple days and while they were here we had a house party at 609 and had moms interment, later I hiked with Peter in Banff and Erica came back from a Kajak tour with her Dad. We had a great time in Nelson and the Cottage we had at the B&B was nice. Funny story was that on the way to Nelson it was late and dark, shortly before Salmo we where redirected on a pitch black road. All we saw where those construction workers with lights guiding us of the road. We thought there was a route around a construction or maybe accident on that road. God thx I asked a guy if that would be the road to Salmo, he looked at me like I was from another planet. Obvisiouly this was the entrance to the biggest Electronic music festival in Canada https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shambhala_(music_festival) . So we turned back on the road and went on our way. We enjoyed our stay with Rachel and Angus and Nelson is just a nice spot to live, with 99% local owned business's. Lettie found a nice store where they make women's hats and actually deliver them to the finest stores in Canada and the US . Lettie and I also went to the Library in Nelson, which is actually a Pub, when Nicole called us from the Paton's house she asked are you in the real or fake library (as we told her that the have a pub here with that name).
Once back we had a goodbye party at 609, my in laws house which we just sold. A view of Lettie's and my friends came and we had some good music and food and just a great way to say goodbye to the house. Mike and Caterine (Lettie's sister and husband) just came from Toronto to join the party and to stay with us for a week. We also had Moms internment that week while Catherine and Mike stayed with us. Just when their stay was over I drove with my friend Peter to Banff and we stayed 3 nights in the YHA Banff so we could do 2 hikes that weekend. I choose to hike at Fairview Mountain in Lake Louise which my Austrian friends and my friend Mike form Freiburg once did. Peter choose a hike around Mt Edith via Cory pass, that was a great hike with nice valleys and straight up 200-300 meters walls on both sides. Erica was on a Kanu trip with her Dad in BC in the New Denver are and later with him and his whole family camping in Waterton.
On August 27 we thought we go on a day trip to Montana - Glacier park which we did, we hiked to St. Mary falls. Later after dinner at the Many Glacier Chalet we decided absolutely spontaneous to see if they have any vacancy, and they did - so we bought toothpaste and brushes and booked us in. That was a very nice stay - what a place to stay overnight. The next day we took a boat trip on swiftcurrent and Josephine Lake which had amazing views on the Mountains and Glaciers.
So viele Sachen sind passiert im Sommer Monat August, zum Beispiel waren wir in Nelson welches in British Columbia liegt, wir hatten eine Hausparty meine Schwägerin kam Erica unterwegs ich war in Banff wandern und wir waren in Montana. Aber nun ein wenig mehr Informationen im Einzelnen. Wir sind nach Nelson in British Columbia gefahren, dass ist ca eine 6 Stunden Autofahrt. Kurz vor unserem Ziel, es war schon dunkel Nacht, wurden wir auf einmal von Leuten die aussahen wie Bauarbeiter umgeleitet. Zum Glück habe ich jemanden dort gefragt warum sie umgeleitet werden, wir wurden recht komisch angeschaut. Der Grund für die Umleitung nachts um elf war das hier auf einer Farm jedes Jahr das größte Elektromusik Festival in Kanada stattfindet. Also umgedreht und zurück auf den Highway, ein lustiger Gedanke dass wir beinahe auf einem Techno Festival gelandet wären :-). Unser Aufenthalt in Nelson war klasse, wir haben Freunde meiner Schwieger Eltern besucht und uns hat Nelson sehr gut gefallen. Von hier sind wir dann durch eine sehr schöne Berglandschaft mit vielen sehen zurück nach Lethbridge gefahren, wobei wir auch eine Autofähre benutzten um einen der Seeen zu überqueren, die Fähre war sogar umsonst. Als wir wieder zu Hause waren hatten wir eine Hausparty in dem ehemaligen Haus meiner Schwieger Eltern, da es eine Woche später offiziell an die neuen Besitzer übergeben wurde. Letties Schwester und Ehemann waren auch für ein paar Tage aus Toronto gekommen um uns zu besuchen. Wir hatten Freunde Nachbarn und Familie gute Musik essen und einfach eine gute Zeit und haben so das Haus das für über 100 Jahre in Familienbesitz war verabschiedet. Nur ein Wochenende später war ich mit meinem Freund Peter für drei Nächte in der Jugendherberge in Banff national Park. Wir haben zwei Wanderungen gemacht, ich habe eine Wanderung ausgesucht die meine Freunde aus Wien und Freiburg gemacht haben als sie hier waren. Fairview Mountain ist gleich neben an bei Lake Louise, vom Gipfel hat man einen super Ausblick auf einige Gletscher und den Lake Louise der direkt unter uns blau schimmerte. Die zweite Wanderung war zum Cory Pass und um Edith Mountain. Das war auch eine sehr schöne Wanderung die uns durch ein Tal mit sehr hohen Felswänden brachte. Erica war mit ihrem Vater auf einer Kanutour in British Columbia in der Gegend wo wir Anfang August auch waren. Am letzten August Wochenende sind wir dann nach Montana gefahren, der Plan war dort einen Tag in den Bergen zu verbringen. Wir waren zum Abendessen in einem der alten Hotels am See, und haben dann spontan entschlossen in dem Hotel eine Nacht zu bleiben, also haben wir Zahnpasta und Zahnbürsten gekauft und uns eine Nacht im Hotel einquartiert. Am nächsten Morgen haben wir dann eine Bootstour auf dem See gemacht, von wo man eine gute Aussicht auf die Berge und Gletscher hatte.
