Weekend in Waterton - Lettie and I had a nice weekend without the kids in Waterton for our 5 th wedding anniversary. I stayed the night from Friday to Saturday at our Cottage to get some things fixed and to get some stuff out of the house as we had new tenants moving in. Of course I went to the Rum runner Pub to meet my friend Jason for some beer. The next morning I drove from the CNP to Waterton and Lettie left from Lethbridge so that we meet at the Hotel. On the way I had to stop at the Lundbreak landfill to throw some old paint away, the landfill was in the middle of nowhere, it was unbelievable, but it was just in a great place - a lot of nature out there!
Nicole stayed with Tara and Miles and had a sleepover.We also got us real wedding rings, after 5 years we thought it would be time.We stayed in a Hotel where we had a weekend special deal, room and breakfast for 2 and snowshoes rentals. The weather was just great when we did our snowshoe hike, we walked in a sunny winter wonderland on the snowshoes (on the Road to Cameron Lake). After that we used the Pool and hot tub in the Hotel and for Dinner we went to the little Mexican Restaurant where we have been with our friends from Europe last year.
After our great breakfast I decided that I want to spend time here again in May and spent my Birthday weekend with my family in one of the family rooms. Because it is still off season the rates are great but all the stores and Restaurants in Waterton will be open already.

Nicole was so sick - She had very high fever for a couple days, at some points it was 39.9 - that was the time when we went to the Doctor right away. She got some Antibiotics which gave her a bad tummy, but after 4-5 days she was better, than I got her infection and got sick ahhhhhhhh. I got pink eye and than Lettie and than Erica, so this month is/was not a good month for our health. Lettie got it really bad too,at least Erica was fine very quick.

Booked our Tickest - we have our timetable for our European flights for August now. We all fly the same day to Amsterdam, that's where we split in 2 groups. While Erica and Lettie go to Dublin, Nicole and I go to Düsseldorf. A week later we re-unite in Dublin when Nicole and I fly Düseldorf Dublin. From there we go a couple days later all to Mecklenburg - Pommerenia (former East Germany) where we stay with relatives. That's the area where my Dad came from, he grow up there. Lettie and Erica fly than back home from Berlin while Nicole and I stay and drive with my Cousin Regina to Duisburg and Wuppertal. I actualy stay in the house where I lived with my parents for 14 years. A friend of my who rents an appartement in the comlex is on vacation with his family, so we can use the appartment and stay there for a week, that is so nice as I can live not only in my old hometown I can live also in the excact area and show Nicole all the places where I have been as a kid.

Erica's dance performance - Erica big sensationell dance performance at the Yates in Lethbridge. Her school organized a big dance event, where different grades or groups where involved. Erica was part of the Boolywood performance and she was the best I would say............might be that I think this because I was a proud stepdad that night (by the way I am always proud of here).
Erica donated  her loooong hair which she never had short, she donated it for women who need a wig. She looks so different but very good with her new short hair.

Wochenende in den Bergen - Lettie und ich waren zu unserem 5. Hochzeitsjubiläum in Waterton ohne Kinder. Zuerst bin ich Freitags in die Berge gefahren um in unserem Ferienhaus etwas zu reparieren und um ein paar Sachen raus zu holen, da wir nun einen neuen Langzeit Mieter haben. Da ich über Nacht dort geblieben bin habe ich mich natürlich mit meinem Freund Jason getroffen und wir hatten ein paar Bier im "Rum runner". Am nächsten morgen bin ich dann vom Ferienhaus aus nach Waterton gefahren, das ist ca. 1 Stunde Autofahrt. Lettie kam von Lethbridge und wir haben uns am Hotel getroffen. Musste allerdings vorher noch zur Müllkippe, alte Farbe entsorgen. Die Müllkippe war mitten im nichts und die Schotterpiste war endlos lang, aber dann endlich war dort inmitten der schönsten Landschaft umgeben von Bergen diese Müllkippe, totall unwirklich.
Es sind zwar ein paar Hotels in Waterton im Winter auf, aber nur eines mit Restaurant. Wir hatten ein besonderes Angebot, eine Nacht plus Frühstücksbuffet und Schneeschuhe zum ausleihen. Wir haben bei super Sonnenschein und exzellent Powder snow eine 45 Minütige Wanderung gemacht, einfach klasse. Danach in den Hotel Pool und in den heißen Pool zum aufwärmen.
Zu unserem 5 jährigen haben wir uns auch endlich einmal richtige Eheringe gekauft, wir hatten Ringe die wir uns schon vorher als Freundschaftsringe gekauft hatten, aber halt keine richtigen Eheringe.
Nicole hat eine Nacht bei Lettie's Arbeitskollegin und deren Sohn Miles geschlafen als wir in Waterton waren, Miles war auch schon einmal bei uns ueber Nacht. Nach unserem guten Fruehstuecks Bueffet mussten wir dann auch wieder zurueck. Allerdings haben wir jetzt schon ein Wochenende im Mai gebucht, nachdem ich 45 werde. Es ist das letzte Wochenende vor der Hauptsaison, so die Preise sind noch niedrig, aber alle Geschaefte in Waterton sind schon geoeffnet. Freuen uns jetzt schon drauf, aber dann werden wir alle 4 gehen!

Nicole war krank - Sie hat sich eine Infektion eingefangen und hatte an drei Tagen immer mal wieder hoch Fieber, bis zu 39.9. Die arme Maus war totall fertig. Wir waren einigemale beim Arzt als das Fieber so extrem hoch war. Als Nicole dann wieder OK war, bekamen Lettie und ich eine Bindehautendzuendung, so nach 2 Wochen haben wir alle nun genung und hoffen das wir mal so schnell nichts wieder bekommen.

Fluege gebucht - Nur noch 155 Tage !!
Wir fliegen alle zusammen von Calgary bis Amsterdam, dort trennen sich unsere Wege.

1. Waehrend Lettie und Erica nach Dublin fliegen werden Nicole und ich nach Duesseldorf weiter fliegen. Dann werden wir eine Woche in Ronsdorf in der Wohnung von Freunden sein die uns freundlicherweise ihre Wohnung zur Verfuegung gestellt haben wahrend sie im Urlaub sind.August 2 bis August 9.
2. Dann werden Nicole und ich auch  nach Dublin fliegen um dort ein paar tage zu sein mit Lettie und Erica. August 10 bis August 13
3. Von hier fligen wir alle 4 nach Berlin um dann in Mecklenburg einige Zeit bei meinem Cousin zu bleiben. August 13 bis August 19
4. Lettie und Erica fliegen dann wieder zurueck nach Kanada am 18 August 
5. Nicole und ich fahren mit meiner Cousine dann nach Wuppertal am August 19und sind dann dort noch bis September 2.

Ich werde also vom 2 August bis 2 September in Europa sein, ein Monat in der alten Heimat, freue mich schon sehr darauf alle Freunde und die Familie zu sehen.

Erica Tanz Veranstaltung / und ihre Haarspende - Erica hatte mit ihrer Schule eine Hip Hop Tanzveranstaltung, sie war part in einer Gruppe die einen Bollywood Tanz vorgefuehrt hat.
Aussedem hat sie ihr langes Haar gespendet fuer Kinder die wegen einer Langzeit Erkrankung ihre Haare verloren haben, aber Erica steht ihr Kurzhaarschnitt wirklich gut.

Skiing with Nicole at Powderkeg and Castle - I skied with her on January 1st at Castle. She was skiing on my hand . We skied both down the hill and she hold my hand so cute! We had a break but went back for skiing. After lunch she stayed at the daycare while I could ski 2 hours by myself. She seems not really to like the daycare, so I feel always bad to drop her off - maybe next time we just make a long break and go back in the afternoon on to the hill.
Nicole and I had further a nice day skiing at the little Blairmore Passpowderkeg Ski hill 2 weeks later. We just stayed on the Bunny-hill and had lunch at Stones throw Cafe. I try to keep it fun for Nicole. I got her nice pink goggles which she put on totally proud.

Skiing with Jason - 91 cm new fresh powder snow in one week, of course we had to go skiing. But it was the busiest Saturday in castle history, at least at the ski runs it was not so crowded as the ski hill is big, but there was some line ups at the Ski lifts. But the skiing was great, nice deep snow.

Karaoke Bar -Andre Doris Sascha and Jamie took us to a Karaoke Bar. We had a great time, Lettie sang and a song and we had a couple beer and just a great time with our friends.......of course I did NOT hit the stage!

Cold temperatures - we had 2 or 3 days with temperature around minus 30/34 with the windchill down to minus 44!! There was a Warning out, to be no longer outside than 10 minutes.

Martin Luther King day - is a holiday in the US (and I have the US holidays. So I could sleep in and enjoy a day off.

We had two young guys over from Germany for 5 days. My uncle and aunt are friends with one off our visitors grandparents.I took them to a Hurricanes game and skiing and showed them around in Lethbridge. Julian turned 20, so Lettie got a big cake with his name and happy birthday on it and we celebrated with Lettie's Co-worker Myra and her friend Jeff.I also went with the boys to the Watertower for a couple drinks.Nicole really likes them and also Buddy is very close to them. I am sure they have a great time and might be hard for them to be back on the road by themselves, sleeping in crowded YHA and finding everything on their own.....but that's also the fun about traveling somewhere else.

Ski fahren war ganz gross angesagt in diesem Monat. Ich war 2 x mit Nicole und einmal mit meinem Freund Jason. Mit Nicole war ich zuerst in Castle Mountain, wo wir beiden morgens zusammen gefahren sind und nach einer langen Mittagspause war Nicole dann in dem Kindergarten und ich konnte mal 2 Stunden alleine fahren.
Mit meinem Freund Jason bin ich natuerlich wieder die schwarzen Pisten runter gejagt, selbst wenn wir etwas laenger warten mussten an den Liften, auf den Pisten hat es sich sehr gut verteilt und teilweise waren wir die einzigsten auf der Piste.
Ausserdem war ich mit Nicole im Crowsnestpass Ski fahren, wir sind allerdings auf dem Kinderhuegel geblieben. Natuerlich haben wir eine lange Pause gemacht, muss ja sehen das Nicole Spass daran hat Ski zu fahren. Sie durfte sich eine Skibrille aussuchen.....natuerlich hat sie dir roas farbene gewaehlt.

Mit unseren Freunden Andrea Doris Sascha und Jamie waren wir in eine Karaoke Bar. Das war schom sehr spassig, natuerlich hat es sich Lettie nicht nehmen lassen selber zu singen, zusammen mit Doris und Jamie.

Kalt Temperaturen bis gefuehlte minus 44 Grad. Fuer 2 - 3 Tage hatten wir eiskalte Wetterbedingungen. Das Wetter Amt hat eine Warnung ausgegeben das man sich nicht laenger als 10 Minuten draussen aufhalten sollte.

Am 16/1 hatten wir einen Feiertag, den ich zum ausschlafen nutzen konnte. Leider hatte Lettie keinen Feiertag da es ein US holiday war.

Wir hatten 2 Besucher aus Deutschland fuer 5 Tage bei uns, Julian und Phillipe. Julians Grosseletern sind mit meiner Tante und Onkel befreundet.
Ich war mit den beiden beim Eishockey und am naechsten Tag zum Ski fahren, fuer Phillipe war es das erste mal das er auf Skiern stand, dafuer klappte es aber schon ganz gut. Da Julian seinen 20zigsten Geburtstag hatte haben wir etwas gefeiert mit Freunden. Natuerlich hat ihm Lettie eine Torte mit "Happy Birthday Julian" besorgt worueber er sich sehr gefreut hatte. Ausserdem waren wir noch im ehemaligen Wasserturm wo sich jetzt ein Restaurant befindet.
Die beiden hatten eine gute Zeit und wir haben natuerlich unser bestes gegeben gut Gastgeber zu sein. Ich und Nicole werden die beiden im August in Deutschland wieder sehen.
