Sick - we all have been sick, stomach flu and diarrhea. First Nicole, than after that it hit Lettie Erica and me at the same day (Erica was with her Dad), poor Nicole had to sit on the Sofa by herself while Mom and Dad where soooooo sick. But right on time for the Sun-life Party we where back on track.

SLF Party - the theme was black/white and the Party was at the Coast Hotel in Lethbridge. The whole Ballroom was only for Sun-life, round about 350 people I would guess. We had door prizes and a DJ and of course a great Buffet, so all over all a great time. We sat together with my "work-wife" Sylvia and with Andy and his wife Danny and her husband and Dannys's sister and Tina.

Rainers Birthday - Rainer turned 50 and he had round about 16 people at their house out in Nobelford. I guess 50% where Germans (or with German background) the rest Canadians. We had a great time and Koko made just an amazing Buffet. We where lucky that we could drive with our neighbors who where invited too (they met each other at the Oktoberfest). Rainer and Koko's house looks just amazing after all the renovation they did.

German Christmas Carol singing  - The Lutheran Church had his Traditional German Christmas Carol singing. Lettie likes to go there too, and she really try to sing along (they show the Lyrics in German on a wall). From "Oh Tannenbaum" to "Stille Nacht" - they have 16 songs on their list. After the Church the have Coffee and Cookies at the Church.

Select/Teamwork Christmas Party -the Christmas Party of Lettie's office was also at the Coast Hotel (where also SunLife had his Party 2 weeks earlier).

The Chavelles a local a Band played after the amazing Buffet dinner we had, so Lettie and I danced a bit and had a great time.

Skiing with Jeff - I had my first Skiing day of the season in December 18th. with Letie Co-workers friend Jeff. We went to Castle Mountain. We had a great day of skiing, even if some spots have been a little bit rough (not enough snow).

At the Lodge with Erica  - While Lettie went with Nicole to built a Gingerbread house ad a friends house, I thought it would be a nice Idea to go out for dinner with Erica - so we had a nice dinner at the Lethbridge Lodge.

Lettie's Birthday -  On Lettie's Birthday we had Mom and Dad and Catherine and Mike over for dinner.
I got Lettie a new watch which she really loves. The Friday after her Birthday we had 35 friends including Partners and kids over for a big Party to celebrate my honeys Birthday.

Christmas - We gave the presents to the kids on the morning of the 24 th., because that was the day we had both kids. Nicole got her kids IKEA kitchen and Woody from "Toy Story", Erica got a Gift certificate from the Mall. I got a wireless headset for my cellphone and Lettie some stuff from the Body Shop. On the 24th. we went over to Andre and Doris house to celebrate with some friends, we had again (like at Rainer's party) a little German group (Andre/Doris and kids Andi/Sabine Peter Sascha and myself)of course Lettie was there too . We had great food and a very nice time together with our friends, Nicole played with Sascha's little boy, both where running behind the cat (Elvis). On the 25th. we (the family incl. In-laws and Catherine and Mike) went to the Lodge for the Christmas dinner, and after-wards to Mom and Dad. We had fun with our Talent Show, Erica teached Lettie and me a dance to the song "Jingle bells rock". I also phoned my family, they all have been at my uncles place and they put me on speaker-phone so that I could talk to all of them.

Magen/Darm Grippe - Wir hatten alle 4 die Magen Darm Grippe, zuerst Nicole und dann 2 Tage spaeter Lettie und ich zur gleichen Zeit, genauso wie Erica die (zum Glueck) in der Woche bei ihrem Vater war. Also wahrend lettie undich 2 unserer 3 Badezimmer blockierten, war Nicole alleine vor dem TV und wunderte sich warum Mama und Papa immer so schnell Richtung Bad rennen.

SunLife Weihnachtsfeier - das Motto der Feier war schwarz/weiss, also es war eigentlich keine Weihnachtsfeier im herkoemlichen Sinne, fiel halt nur in die Zeit. Der Ballsaal war brechend voll mit ca. 350 Menschen (Mitarbeiter plus ein Gast). Lettie und ich sassen mit ein paar aus meinem Team zusammen. Es gab ein klasse Buffetund einen DJ der gute Musik spielte. Desweiteren gab es Preise zu gewinnen, z.B. einen I pad 2.

Geburtstagsfeier - Unser Freund Rainer wurde 50, also hat er bei sich draussen in Nobelford (kleine Gemeinde noerdlich von Lethbridge) seinen Geburtstag gefeiert. Von den ca. 16 Gaesten waren ca. 50 % Deutschsprachig, was mal wieder ganz Interesant war und mich an die Parties in meinem alten Heimatland erinnerte. Es gab ein klasse Buffet welches Koko gemacht hatte und wir konnten endlich einmal das klasse renovierte Haus der beiden sehen, die haben echt viele Liebe und arbeit reingestekt in den letzten Monaten.

Deutsche Weihnachtslieder - wie schon ein paar mal zuvor (mal abgesehen vom letzten Jahr) waren wir wieder in der Lutheranischen Kirche zum Deutsche Weihnachtslieder singen. Lettie singt auch kraefig mit, die Lieder werden an die Wande projektiert. Anschliessen sassen wir noch zusammen im Gemeindesaal fuer Kaffee und Kuchen.

Weihnachtsfeier Nummer 2 - Lettie's Buero hatte im gleichen Hotel die Weihnachstfeier wie SunLife. Alllerdings war das die Feier der kleinen Unternehmer, deshalb waren dort ca. 20-30 kleine Firen die ihre Feier zusammen hatten. Es gab das gleiche gute Buffet, aber anstatt eines DJs hatten wir diesesmal eine lokale Band die Cover versionen der letzten 30 Jahre spielte.

Ski fahren - Ich hatte meinen ersten Ski Tag, mit dem Partner von Lettie's Arbeitskollegin. Jeff und ich hatten einen guten Tag Skiing bzw. er war am Snowboarden. Es haette ruhig etwas mehr Schnee sein koennen in den oberen regionen, aber in manchen Abschnitten war der Schnee einfach klasse.

Ins Restaurant mit Erica - waehrend Lettie und Nicole ein Lemkuchen - Zug gebaut haben, sind Erica und ich gut essen gegangen in der Lethbridge Lodge. Es ist wichtig das wir beiden auch mal sachen machen ohne Lettie.

Weihnachten - Am 24. waren wir bei unseren Deutschen Andre und Doris wo eine kleine Gruppe zusammen kam zum essen. Wir hatten hier wie schon zuvor bei Rainers Party eine kleine Deutsche Gruppe. Nicole hatte Spass Elvis (eine Katze) hinterher zu laufen. Am 25. waren wir mit meinen Schwiegereltern und Lettie's Schwester und Mann in der Lethbridge Lodge zum Weinhnachts Abendessen. Spaeter hatten wir dann noch eine Wettbewerb wo jeder aus der Familie etwas vorgefuehrt hat. Erica hatte Lettie und mir einen Tanz zu "Jingle Bell Rock" beigebracht den wir dann sogar 2 x vorgefuehrt haben. Nicole bekam von uns eine Kinder IKEA Kueche und Woody (von Toy-Story), Erica einen Gutschein fuer die Mall.

Lettie's Geburtstag - An ihrem Geburtstag hatten wir Mom und Dad bei uns so ihre Schwester und Mann. Den drauffolgenden Freitag (Dez. 30) hatten wir dann eine Party bei uns im Haus mit ca. 35 Freunden und Familie.

Pumpkins in the Park
We had our Pumpkins in the Park event, we invited our neighbors to bring carved Pumpkins and enjoy the lighted Pumpkins with us. We served Hot Chocolate and some Cookies, others brought sweet stuff too. We had a fire outside to warm us up at that cold evening. We had round about 18 Pumpkins and maybe 12-15 neighbors and friends in our backyard from 7-9pm. It was a very successful event and we will do this again 2012.

Mojos with the Germans
We had our monthly "Stammtisch" at Mojos. Lettie came too, she really enjoys to see the "Germans" and of course we switch  to English if she is coming. Koko and Rainer invited us for Dec. 9th. for Rainers Birthday Party, and Andre and Doris will have a Christmas Party on Dec. 24, as this in not (unlike in Germany) the important family day - which is here a day later on the 25th.

Miles
Lettie's Co-worker asked us to watch her son for one day, actually Erica babysit but I had  a day off. Nicole likes Miles and they both had a great day together playing running eating sleeping watching TV. Miles is just a year younger which is a huge difference at this age, and actually Nicole likes to bossy him around a little bit :-)
He also stayed overnight for another weekend, and Nicole and he had just a great time. Nicole feels like in charge, because she is one year older - she is a big kid while Miles  is still a Baby.They had a bath together sooooo cute  :-))

Calgary weekend
Lettie and I had a romantic weekend in Calgary, while we had our kids from Saturday morning till Sunday afternoon with our friends in Lethbridge. We stayed in the same B&B I stayed with my friends in September. The scenery is just amazing, the price grat, the location good and so close to Ingelwood to walk where you find nice Restaurants with normal prizes (not as high as Calgary downtown).  
We of course also stopped at the Edelweiss store for some good German food, and we got some stuff at IKEA (a kids kitchen for Nicole for Christmas).

COC VP
After being 5 years here in Canada I am getting more and more involved in activities here. Being a member of the COC (Chinook outdoor Club) and doing hikes with them, even organize hikes, I am now also the newly elected VP of the Club, and than after one year I will be probably (if I do not totally suck) the new President.

Christmas Tree
Yes, we put it up on 11/21...........early? Maybe, but the next weekends are getting full and so we had the time to put the tree up with the kids and take our time to do so. I even put up lights on the house, the first time ever. So Christmas Season at our house starts .........NOW.

Prairie fire
That was close, we got a very windy weekend with winds in some areas around 130 km/h. And than a Prairie fires starts which cam so close to the west-side, that some people where evacuated in the County of Lethbridge. We listened to the news, mostly on the local radio and we also packed some stuff like cloth and important documents, just in case we would have to leave.

Kuerbisse im Park.
Wir hatten Nachbarn und Freunde bei uns im Garten zu einem Kuerbisfest. Jeder brachte einen geschnitzten Kuerbis, wir haben die dann in den Park der direkt an unser Haus grenzt gebracht und Kerzen in den Kuerbisen angezuendet. Da wir diesen event von 19 - 21 Uhr hatten, gab es natuerlich auch ein Lagerfeuer und heissen Kakao und Gebaeck. Der Event ist gut angekommen und wir werden es 2012 wieder machen.

Mojos - Pub Stammtisch
Wir hatten wieder unseren Stammtisch, Lettie kam auch mit. Sie kommt gerne mit da sie natuerlich auch mit den Leuten die kommen befreundet ist, und wir wechseln natuerlich nach Englisch wenn sie mit dabei ist. Unsere Freunde haben uns eingeladen fuer Dezember, da einmal Rainer's 50zigster ist, und bei Andre und Doris werden wir mit einer Gruppe anderer am Heilig Abend feiern, der ja hier nicht so wie in Deutschland der "Familienabend" ist (das ist dann eher der 25.12).

Miles
Lettie's Kollegin hat uns 2 x ihren Sohn zum Baby sitting gebracht, einmal fuer den Tag und einmal ueber Nacht.Nicole und Miles hatten Spass zusammen, und es Interesant zu sehen wir Nicole meint sie waere der "Boss" nur weil sie ein Jahr aelter ist. Die beiden rannten herum und es war ziemlich laut :-), ich denke Nicole freut sich wenn sie einen Spielkameraden hier hat, auch wenn es ein Junge ist - muss er trotzdem Teeparty und Barbies spielen.

Calgary Wochenende
Lettie und ich hatten ein Wochenende ohne Kinder in Calgary. Wir waren in dem gleichen B&B wo ich auch mit meinen Freunden war im September. Wir waren nur 20 Geh-minuten von Downtown und hatten von dem Hot-tub einen genialen Blick auf die Skyline (bei einem Glas Wein). Zum Abendessen waren wir in Ingelwood, einem Stadteil der viele nette Lokale hat, dann zu einem Guiness spaeter noch Downtown ins Irish Pub. Wir waren natuerlcih auch bei IKEA wo wir Nicole's Kinder Kueche gekauft haben fuer Weihnachten und selbstverstaendlich waren wir auch im Edelweiss Store wo wir Deutsches Gebaeck und andere Sachen gekauft haben.

Hiking Club VP (Vize President)
Nun bin ich doch tatsaechlich zum Vize President des Wander Clubs gewaehlt worden und werde dann nach einem Jahr in die Rolle des Praesidenten rutschen.Sollte evtl. neue Visitenkarten drucken :-))
Der Club besteaht seit 40 Jahren und ist damit schon eine gewisse Institution fuer den Bereich Wanderungen. Hier nun nach 5 Jahren in denen ich hier bin in so einem Klub eingebunden zu sein ist schon klasse!

Weihnachtsbaum
Seit November 19. !!! haben wir unseren Baum stehen und den bei den Schwiegereltern haben wir am 27. aufgebaut. Ich weiss ich weiss recht frueh, aber so ist das nun einmal hier wo fast jeder einen falschen (Plastik) Baum hat, da kann man ruhig schon einmal 5 Wochen vorher den baum aufstellen. Die Kinder zumindest haten einen Heiden Spass die Baeume zu dekorieren.

Praerie Feuer
Wir hatten starke Winde 130km/h plus Steppenbraende die uns hier in West Lethbridge sehr nahe kamen. Siehe auch Photos im Newsletter! Es wurden sogar einige Aussenbezirke geraeumt. Wir hatten, wie so viele andere auch, schon unsere wichtigsten Sachen gepackt fuer den Fall einer evakuierung. Zum Glueck kam es aber dann nicht so weit.
