Nach ein paar Rueckmeldungen werde ich doch versuchen auch eine deutsche version zu schreiben.

Erntedankfest - Fuer mich war es ein nornmaler Arbeitstag, da ich die US Feiertage habe und man in den USA Erntedank erst ende November feiert.Aber Lettie und die kids hatten ein schoenes langes Wochenende. Thanksgiving Sonntag waren wir dann mit meinen Schwiegereltern in der Lodge zum Lunch.

Oktoberfest im Deutschen Klub - Zum 6. mal waren wir beim Oktoberfest, zum 2. mal hatten wir einen Tisch fuer 8 reserviert fuer uns und fuer ein paar Freunde (Louis und Dana Sylvia und Michael Terry und Freundin und wir beiden). Guttes essen gute Stimmung und ich habe sogar einen Preis gewonnen. Und natuerlich hatte ich mein Oktoberfest Hemd an was ich bei KICK gekauft hatte sowie die Hosentraeger mit Edelweiss Motiv.

Lettie hat ihr neues Auto, nachdem ich meinen Hyundai Accent 2013 GLS schon ende September bekam hat nun auch Lettie ihren Hyundai Tucson 2013 L . Sie hat das groessere Auto mit mehr PS (168) ich den kleineren dafuer aber mit mehr extras wie beheizte Sitze Sonnendach und Tempomat Alufelgen. Also den grossen werden wir nehmen wenn wir alle z.B. in die Berge fahren.

Party bei Koko, am 19.10 hatten wir eine kleine Deutsche Gruppe bei Koko und Rainer. Ca. 15 die Deutsch als Muttersprache haben. Darunter einige die gerade in Kanada zu besuch sind. Lettie konnte leider nicht kommen da es ihr nicht so gut ging.

Catherine ist wieder hier, Lettie's Schwester ist bei ihren Eltern fuer ein paar Tage. Sie lebt in Toronto und kommt jedes Jahr so 3 - 4 mal nach Lethbridge.

Erster richtiger Schneefall am 22/23 Oktober und was fuer einer 15-20 cm legen hier (auch wenn das gut klappt mit dem Schnee raeumen) alles flach, nichts geht mehr am morgen. Zumindest spaeter am Tag beruhight sich die Lage.


Thanks giving was a day off for all Canadians.......not for me, as I have the US Holidays and they have Thanksgiving by the end of November. But Lettie and the kids had a nice long weekend and Sundays we went with my in laws to the Lodge for lunch.

Oktoberfest, it was the 6th. time that we went. We had a table of 8 for us our neighbor Louis and her friend and Terry a former Co-worker and a friend as well as my Co-worker Sylvia and her husband Michael. I was wearing some Oktoberfest gadgets I bought when I was in Germany this August, Lettie for example had some Pretzel earnings.

New cars - yes we traded our cars in and got both a new one. We had both a Hyundai Elantra touring, Lettie a 2009 myself a 2010. Now she got an SUV, a 2013 Hyundai Tucson and I got the 2013 Hyundai Accent GLS with sun roof heated seats Aluminum wheels and blue tooth telephone system Cruise Control and and and.

Party with Germans, Koko our friend from Germany had a come together with friends. Round about 15 people who have German as a mother language came, some where just here for a visit from Germany. To bad that Lettie couldn't made it.

Catherine is here - Lettie’s sister is here for a short visit. We see her a couple times over at Mom and Dad’s house, and we have our typical chines dinner which we have always the first night she comes over.

First Snowfall of the season 15 - 20 cm fresh snow over night, we stuck in our parking spot at home, took me 1 1/2 hours of shoveling snow. But the next day it started to get better.

The month after our trip, it was hard to come back to work and it took me a while to realize I am sleeping at home not somewhere in Germany.

Hike with the COC - I went on two hikes this month, the first hike brought me two the South-fork Lakes and Barnaby Ridge. It was a steep hike from the beginning. First we had to cross a creek, and it was a cold morning and the water was freezing. I did this hike last year but this time we went higher to the ridge from where we had great views on the mountains around and on the West Castle Ski hill. And that creek we had to cross at the end again felt much more refreshing than in the morning.
The second hike brought me to Grinnel Glacier lookout. we had to go up all the way to Logans Pass from where we took the High-line trail to Glacier Park Chalet, just before the Chalet we turned right, up the hill for 1 km to the outlook. The Glacier was maybe 400 feet below us. I have been at the Glacier 2 years ago and thought it would be great to be on that wall behind the Glacier, and here I am!

End of summer - we had some very nice summer days. Two weekends with temperature above 25 degree, nice relaxing playing eating in our backyard - what a great place to be.
The kids like to play outside in the backyard, or we go to the playground. This will be over soon, as the winter is coming closer.

Nicole is now going to the Y for her swimming lessons. She is going with her little friend Miles who is also in her Pre-school and who's Mother works with Lettie. One day the went hand in hand from the place the parents wait to their swim instructor sooo cute.

Stammtisch - we also our monthly German come together at the Pub. It was a small group this time but it was nice to catch up with what happened while we where gone. Lettie and I went a little bit earlier to have a Date.

House renovations - it was time that we finished our deck, we put a last cover coat on after Lettie and Erica did the major work already to stain it. Now the deck is protected for another few years. Further we had a professional carpet cleaner who cleaned all our carpets in the house over the period off 2 weeks.

Erica is in the track and field Team of her school. Being 10th at the school race gave her the chance to represent her school with the other nine kids at the Lethbridge track and field race where her school made the third place. What a success, so proud of her.

We had a great weekend in the mountains, we planed this trip month ago and we where so lucky that the weather was just so fabulous. Before we went to the Cabin we stopped at the Pumpkin Festival, where we go every year. We stayed in a little Cabin by Twin Butte, which is round about 15 Minutes north of Waterton. From here we went to Waterton to do a little hike to Crandel Lake. The kids watched later BAMBI at the Cabin after dinner, while Lettie and I went to the Mexican Pub which was 5 Minutes north of the Cabin to have some drinks. The next morning we went back to Waterton where Erica went on an one hour horseback riding trip. And still, the weather was great again just great to end the summer season here.
Via the Crowsnest Pass (where we welcomed our new tenants) we went back home later on Sunday evening.

New cars, we just signed up to get our cars replaced. Lettie is getting a Hyundai Tuscon L and I get a  Hyundai Accent GLS. While my car was there by the end of the month,  Lettie has to wait for a couple weeks.
