Looooooong weekend, it is one of the rare holidays that we have together of, Lab-our Day is a Holiday in Canada and the US.So I could spend the time with my family and enjoy the nice weather.

20 years anniversary, on September 10th. 1991 we talked to each other the first time, so we use this day as the day for our anniversary, can you believe it we know each other for 20 years.
We went out to a Pub that night on September 10th. 2011 to have a couple beers. 

I saw my friends back in Calgary at the end of their 3 weeks vacation in Canada. My friends from Vienna and Freiburg (Germany) stayed with me for 2 nights in a Bed and Breakfast in Calgary. The B&B was only 15 walking minutes from downtown and nearby the Inglewood area. On the deck was a Hot-tub, with an amazing view on the Skyline. We walked twice to the neighborhood Pub in Inglewood the old fire station, and we enjoyed the dinner there. from there it was a nice short walk to downtown, where we one night visited the downtown area and the Tower and the other night just the Iris Pub.We went up the Calgary Tower when the sun was going down , so we had a great scenery with the sun going down behind the mountains on one side and the dark side with the Skyscrapers on the other side. We also visited the Heritage Museum, and did some shopping in the Chinook Mall. After a late lunch at Montana's in the Airport (where I had the worst drumsticks ever) it was time to say goodbye to my friends, I know they had a great time.

Nicole is now joining a Ballet Group, she went the first day with Erica and Lettie, but was scared and did not do anything without Erica. She looked so cute in her little outfit. And she will for sure follow her big sister and her Niece.

Green heaven Pumpkin Festival, was this year earlier than the other years.it was a hot sunny day with 33 degree. We did they typical things like the years before, Hot dogs - Pumpkin pie - Kids games - family photo taken - Petting Zoo. It is just a nice event for the whole family.

It looks like that we go all to Europe in 2012.
I am just talking to my employer to see if I can get a whole month off in August 2012. This is the Plan so far: Lettie and Erica might fly earlier to Ireland with a stop in London (England). Nicole and I fly direct to Ireland where we will meet Erica and Lettie. We stay with family there. After that we go to former East Germany where we might stay with family, and from here Erica and Lettie will go back and I will go with Nicole to my old home town and maybe also for a short visit to my friend Mike in the City of Freiburg in the Black Forest. Going back and stay there for a month that would be a great thing to do and it is so important for me to keep Nicole connected with her family over there.

Moxies visit,Lettie and I went to Moxies Pub and Grill for a drink after we got a Gift Certificate from one of Lettie's Co-workers for watching her dog. We dropped the kids of at Mom and  Dad's house, and had some good beer and snack at the pub.

Ich habe meine Freunde aus Oesterreich und Deutschland (Gerhard Didi und Mike) nochmals am Ende ihrer Reise gesehen. Ich hatte uns ein B@B gebucht und wir waren 2 Naechte in Calgary wo wir abends im Whirlpool draussen auf der Veranda sassen und bei einem Glaserl Wein die Skyline genossen. Calgary downtown war nur 15 Gehminuten vom B@B und wir fanden in der Naehe auch ein nettes Pub wo wir abends essen waren (die alte Feuerwache in Inglewood). Wir haben uns in Calgary das Freilichtmuseum angeschaut und waren shoppen in einer grossen Mall. Ausserdem waren wir auf dem Calgary Tower wo wir den Sonnenuntergang ueber den bergen sehen konnten und das Lichtermeer von Calgary. Nach 3 Wochen in Canada habe ich dann meine Freunde am 10.09.2011 am Flughafen verabschiedet.

Nicole get seit kurzem zum Ballet, sie hatte ein wenig Angst beim ersten mal, aber Erica war bei ihr und so konnte Nicole ihre ersten Schritte auf den Buehnen der Welt absolvieren :-)

Kuerbisfest - wie jedes Jahr waren wir auch dieses mal beim Kuerbisfest im Green-heaven Gartencenter. Wir gehen da schon seit 2006 hin und seit 2008 lassen wir auch jedes mal Photos machen. So es ist schon eine Tradition fuer uns. Dort gibt es immer Hot-dogs und Kuerbis Kuchen und einen Streichel-zoo, Spiele fuer Kinder und vieles mehr.

Wenn alles gut geht kommen wir in 2012 rueber nach Europa. Ich verhandel gerade das ich 4 Wochen im August frei habe, dann wuerden wir alle 4 rueber kommen. Wobei Lettie und Erica nicht die ganze Zeit kommen sonden wohl nur 2 Wochen.Wir wuerden gerne nach Irland fuer ein paar Tage, Lettie und Erica fliegen evtl. schon vorher da sie gerne laenger dort waeren. Wir alle wuerden dann gerne nach Meck.-Pom um in dem Ort zu bleiben wo mein Vater aufgewachsen ist und wo wir noch Familie haben.Danach wuerden Lettie und Erica wohl wieder zurueck fliegen, waehrend Nicole und ich noch nach Wuppertal kaemen und evtl. auch noch den Mike in Freiburg besuchen (fuer ein verlaengertes Wochenende) in der Hoffnung das auch die Baleks aus Wien zum Mike kommen koennen.Wie gesagt, erst muss ich einmal ein 100 % JA von meiner Firma bekommen, habe bisher nur gehoert das es wohl kein Problem geben wird. Aber das Rahmen Programm wird wohl so sein wie oben beschrieben.Nachdem ich 2007 2009 2010 da war wird es nun wieder einmal Zeit zu kommen, alle 1.5 - 2 Jahre moechte ich schon in der alten Heimat sein und dann 4 Wochen, da freue ich mich jetzt schon drauf.

Crowsnest Mountain Hike




















Hike on to Crowsnest Mountain - with Peter and two of his friends we hiked up to Crowsnest Mountain, which is just an amazing Peak (see photos), seeing the mountain from the Hwy. you would never guess that you can hike on to it. We drove on a gravel road close to the mountains of the seven sisters which are behind the Crwsn.-Mtn., that's where we stated the hike. Right from the beginning it went up steep and steeper thru gravel and scree. We even had to climb a little bit a long a chain which was attached at a wall at the end of the chimney, a narrow step space surrounded by high walls only open north south thru a narrow spot which really looked like a chimney. The 3.6 km up to the top took us more than 3 hours, but the view from the Top was astonishing. The scary part was than again to go down the chimney and the step slippery entrance into this part of the hike.

Cake from Austria - My friends from Austria (who will come for hiking this month) send tha famous Sacher Torte (Cake) to us, you can get it only in Vienna, but the bakery send it world wide. It was just a nice gift and we all went to Mom and Dad to share this special treat with them.

Kids to Raymond Pool - Lettie and the kids plus the Mitchel Kids (3) and her co-worker Mira, went to the pool in Raymond (while I was hiking). Erica said we looked like a Mormon family,

Visitors from Ireland and Austria/Germany - crazy days, while I hiked with my friends we also got family from Ireland. Lettie took good care of the family and I off my friends. I hiked Sunday 17 km in 7 hours with my friends from Cameron lake to the town site and we saw 7 BEAR, not on the hike but on the way from the Park entrance to the town site.
Later that day I meet the relative and their partners in our house, they had dinner with my family and Mom and Dad.
On a monday we ALL came together at Zum's in Waterton for dinner. Austrian Irish German Canadian group, it was fun and we had a good time.
Wednesday to Sunday I stayed with my friends in Waterton and Banf - here is a short or not so short note what we did what we saw.
Wednesday we went to Montana to do the Ptarmigan Tunnel hike, it was a great hike with a wonderful view, for dinner we stopped at the Swiftcurrent Lodge in Many Glaciers
Thursday we just went over Logans pass where we saw Mtn. Goats, my friends where amazed about the nature and how close you can come to the animals. We drove down to Lake McDonald for lunch and for beeing prepared to pick up our Irish relatives who drove with Moms car to West Glacier a day before, but after her car broke down they stranded in the Village. But after talking to Lettie I got the Info that the car would drive and they would be already at Browning. It took them quit a while before the made it to the Border, where we catched up to them. Moms car went on and off and they could only drive for a couple hundred meters or let the car run without engine. Lettie came also to the Border where she Mike and me waited for the Tow-truck while the others went to the Mexican Restaurant in Twin Butte. That was also the Restaurant where we meet for dinner, as there was live music, everybody had a great time and Nicole was the first one on the dance floor. We all (Austrian Iris German Canadians) had a great time in the Restaurant.
After that Party night I did a big hike with my friends to Newman Peak via Goat Lake and Avion Ridge. It was the highlight at the end of our trekking in Waterton. We had an amazing view from the Top and just made it down while we heard the thunder behind us, but back in Waterton we sat outside at Pizza of Waterton an had an absolute great Pizza and beer.
The Saturday we drove via the beautiful Hwy 22 up north to banf where I showed my friends the town. Mike and I visited the Hot Pool and later we all had dinner at Wild Bill's. The Hotel Didi booked was near to the downtown area so we could leave our car there and walk.
The day later we went to Maligne Lake by Lake Louise and hiked up to the Larch Valley, where we heard a Bear roaring nearby, that was kind of scary, but we had a great time in this Area and saw the 10 peaks and that amazing huge Glacier,. where we actually also saw people hiking in the Glacier wit our binoculars. Back in Banff I waited with my friends at Boston Pizza for Michael and Johnny to pick me up (as they used my car now), and I was back in Lethbridge at 9pm, knowing I will see my friends again in Calgary from September 8-10.

Mit meinem Freund Peter und ein paar anderen bin ich auf den Crowsnest Mountain gewandert/geklettert. Das war bisher die schwierigste Wanderung in Kanada die ich gemacht habe. Es ging von Anfang an steil berg auf und speter ausschliesslich ueber Schotter. Durch den sogenannten Kamin, einer engen mit hohen Waenden steil angehender Passage, ging es zu eine Wand an der eine Eisenkette helfen sollte die ca. 15 meter zu ueberwinden, das war ganz schoen steil und rutschig und vor allem spaeter auf dem Rueckweg nicht immer Spass. Fuer die 3.6 km brauchten wir ca. 3 Stunden, ganz schoen lange fuer so eine kurze Strecke. Aber die Aussicht war ueberwaeltigend, und das Bier und der Hamburger spaeter waren genial.

Meine Freunde aus Wien und mein Freund Mike haben eine Original Sachertorte vom Hotel Sacher in Wien an uns gesendet, welchen wir mit meinen Schwiegereltern genossen haben.

Lettie war mit den Kinder plus Ericas freundin und deren 2 Bruedern plus ihrer jungen Arbeitskollegin Mira im Freibad an einem Feiertag an dem ich arbeiten durfte, Erica sagte sie sahen aus wie eine grosse Mormonen Familie.

Besucher aus Irland und Oesterreich und Deutschland.
Die Iren kamen am 18/8 und waren erst in Banff und dann bei uns fuer eine Nacht bevor sie mit Lettie in ein Ferienhaus bei Waterton gefahren sind.
Die Oesis und Mike kamen am 8/19 direkt zu uns fuer eine Nacht bevor ich mit Ihnen nach einer Tour durch Lethbridge nach Mountain view bei Waterton gefahren bin. Den Abend sind wir direkt noch hoch auf den Bears Hump wo ich eine Flasche Wein geoeffnet habe.
Den Sonntag haben wir dann die Wanderung vom Cameron Lake zur Townsite gemacht, die meinen Besucher besonders gut gefallen hat. Montag und Dienstag musste ich arbeiten, so das die drei die Crypt Lake Wanderung Montags und einen Ruhetag Dienstags gemacht haben. Montag Abend war ich zum Abendessen in Waterton wohin auch Lettie und Nicole und unsere Verwandten aus Irland kamen (Jonny Michael Becky und Amber). Dienstag Abend haben wir uns dann bei denen am Ferienhaus getroffen wo es Chilli gab und wir alle eine gute Zeit hatten.
Mittwoch ging es dann nach Montana wo wir zum Ptarmigan Tunnel gewandert sind, diese Wanderung hatte ich selber noch nicht gemacht, zum Abendessen waren wir in der Swiftcurrent Lodge und wir haben auch das grosse alte Hotel besichtigt. Donnerstag war ein Ruhetag ohne grosse wanderung, wir sind ueber Logans Pass bis Lake MacDonald wo wir lunch hatten. Oben am Pass haben wir eine kurze Wanderung gemacht ueber Schnee bis zum Hidden Lake Lookout. Wir haben einige Schneeziegen aus der naehe gesehen und alle waren begeistert wie viele Tiere man hier oben sieht.
Freitag war die Abschluss Wanderung in Waterton zum Newman Peak ueber Goat Lake and Avion Ridge, diese Wanderung war ca. 25 km und teilweise steil. Zurueck haben wir es noch im trockenen geschafft, hinter uns Blitz und Donner. Aber zum Abendessen saßen wir schon wieder draußen bei Pizza und Bier.
Samstags ging es über eine der schönsten Nebenrouten hoch nach Banff wo Mike und ich die heißen Quellen ausgiebig genutzt haben während Baleks shoppen waren. Das Hotel das Didi ausgesucht hatte war sehr nah an downtown Banff.
Sonntag die letzte Wanderung zum Lärchen Wald beim Moraine Lake wo man wegen der Bären nur in Gruppen zu viert wandern darf. Wir haben dann auch einen Bären sehr nahe brüllen gehört, ihn aber wegen des dichten Waldes nicht gesehen. Michael und Johnny haben mich dann mit meinem Auto Abends in Banff abgeholt.
Ich freue mich das ich meine Freunde noch einmal für 2 Tage in Calgary sehe bevor sie am 10 September abfliegen.
