We had our first day of skiing on the first weekend in March, and it was a perfect day lots of new snow +3° some sun and no wind, what more can you ask for. And our kitchen renovation downstairs is in full force, this is the first step on getting the income suite ready for the summer. The IKEA kitchen came on a truck and you wonder if all pieces are delivered. But everything was there and so was the first step off the kitchen renovation is done and will be finished after we painted all the walls in the future tenants apartment. Mid-March we have temperature us off +18° on one weekend, so I put up the trampoline. Spring is close but it could also be very cold and snowy again, you never know at this time of the year.Lettie is working hard on her class, which is the seventh class of her HR degree that she is doing with the U of Regina. It was Ericas 18th birthday on 3/23 and we celebrated it with her Dad and her boyfriend at the Mango tree East Indian Restaurant. Erica was before that out with Lettie for her first official drink at a Pub. We also had a nice breakfast at the telegraph Pub with Ericas boyfriend and his family, a very nice family of 4. That weekend Nicole and I also went for our last day of skiing, it was a perfect day - +4 sun no wind and great fluffy snow, what more can you ask for.

This will be my last monthly newsletter, I started it in March 2007 and I thought after 10 years recording our family life it will be now a good time to stop. I might sent from time to time and update, maybe every couple months or on a half year basis. I printed every year of my newsletters and have now 10 binders full of family history and maybe our kids will look at this later and see what we've done in those 10 years.

Nicole und ich hatten zwei Ski Tage im März. Beide Tage waren recht angenehm, da wir plus Temperaturen hatten sowie frischen fluffigen neu Schnee und keinen Wind also absolutes Kaiserwetter zum Skifahren. Außerdem wurde im März unsere IKEA Küche geliefert. Das ist wie ein großes Puzzle und man hofft dass alle Teile da sind, aber so wie vor vier Jahren als wir unsere große Küche renoviert haben war auch dieses Mal für die kleine Küche im Untergeschoss alles geliefert worden. Ich habe schon einige Teile zusammen gebaut, kann aber alles erst richtig installieren nachdem wir die Wände gestrichen haben. Lettie ist gerade an ihrem siebten von zehn Kursen den sie macht um ihr Universitäts Abschluss für Personalwesen zu bekommen, welches sie wohl nächstes Jahr abschließen wird. Erica ist 18 geworden und wir haben mit ihrem Freund und ihrem Vater in einem Restaurant ein wenig gefeiert, zuvor hat Lettie Erica zu ihrem ersten alkoholischen Getränk in einem Pub mitgenommen.

Dieses wird erst einmal mein letzter Newsletter sein, im März 2007 habe ich meinen ersten gesendet und nun nach zehn Jahren denke ich einmal ich habe einen großen Teil Familiengeschichte festgehalten und das ist ein guter Zeitpunkt aufzuhören. Ich werde sicherlich von Zeit zu Zeit einen Newsletter senden aber nicht mehr jeden Monat wie bisher.

February, on Valentine's Day we have been married for 10 years, the best 10 years of my life. Unbelievable what all happened in the last 10 years, a great journey with my best friend and partner and wife mother of my two amazing kids- Lettie. 

Erica is still trying to sign up for a family in Spain, she has already one family for August we are she will be the au pair. Another family south of Madrid by the city of Toledo was interested to but in the end it didn't work out. Now she signed with a family on the Canarieislands.

The big thing this month was our trip to Vegas, one week with no kids. We stayed at the Excalibur but before we even left Canada we had one night in Calgary as our flight left early the next morning. It took a while to get our room but we enjoyed some Pizza and beer while waiting and we explored our hotel as well as the Luxor hotel beside us. The only really negative thing is that people are smoking in the Casino. We had an upgraded room on the 17th floor in the newly renovated tower, with a nice jacuzzi tub. The next day we went to the Grand Canyon on a bus trip. The pick up was at 6 am and we came back at 9:15 pm. So it was a long day, but it was well organized and food was included ( lunch and snacks in the Bus). We had a short stop at the Hoover Dam and than again in the little hamlet of Seligman AZ. And there we stopped at a Cafe owned by a German Lady by the name of Lilo (Liselotte) who had a lot of German stuff and even will celebrate Oktoberfest. How weird is that in the middle of nowhere. At the Grand Canyon we had a 3 hours stop and time enough to walk along the Ridge to the Bright Angel Lodge - coming the 3 Miles from Mathers point. It was a bit chilly but the views where astonishing and it was Lettie's first stop at the Canyon (my 3rd). Back in Vegas we visited the Venetian Casino and had a snack at the little Italian Village with the river and Gondolas (which is on the 2nd floor). Quit amazing, withe the fake sky and all the stores you might feel like in Venice. The night ended at an Irish pub in the New York New York with some great live music.

The next day we took it easy and we went to the neighbour Hotels pool, as our pool was on the construction, but the pool at the Luxor hotel was nice. Well we used the hot tub but the sun was nice and we actually needed sunscreen even if it was only 14°. Later that day we went to the German Hofbräuhaus, a pretty good copy of the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich. We stayed there for a few hours and had fun with the Band from Austria. Of course I had a Wiener Schnitzel and Lettie some Bratwurst, and we had some (or more) German beer. We also met that nice couple from Austin Texas, we quite enjoyed the company of these two Lady's. It was just weird that the band from Austria played the American anthem, the nice couple beside us as well as us were the only ones not standing up, surprisingly nobody complained. In Vegas we used Uber taxis the first time, and I have to say it is just a great service and half the price and Normal taxi would cost. On Friday we had to leave at 7 PM which means that we had till 4:30 PM to walk around in Vegas, a nice guy that we met in the hot tub suggested we should check out the Wynn hotel, which we did. It was a sunny day and we had some relaxing time on the deck with a nice view on a waterfall. After that we checked out the Venetian and had a last coffee by the piano in one of the many bars and cafés at the Bellagio. Because we arrived late that night in Calgary we decided to stay another night before heading home on Saturday at noon, poor kids won't come to us happily and Lettie and I were happy to have them in our arms again.

Am 14. Februar hatten Lettie und ich unseren zehnten Hochzeitstag, die besten zehn Jahre in meinem Leben mit zwei wundervollen Töchtern und einer Partnerin die nicht nur meine Frau ist sondern auch meine beste Freundin. Erica hat jetzt einen Vertrag mit einer Familie auf den kanarischen Inseln, genauer gesagt auf Teneriffa, wo sie ab September dann für ein Jahr sein wird. Im August ist sie ja mit einer Familie in Galizien/Spanien.

Lettie und ich waren zu unserem 10. Hochzeitstag für vier Tage in Las Vegas, ohne Kinder. Erica und Nicole waren zu Hause und unsere Nachbarn Bob und Lois haben ein Auge auf die beiden geworfen. Wir waren im Excalibur Hotel und haben uns dort am ersten Abend eine Bee Gees Cover Band angeschaut. Am nächsten Tag sind wir früh morgens zum Grant Canyon gefahren, das war eine organisierte Bustour mit der wir dann abends um 9:00 Uhr zurückfahren. Wir haben auf dem Weg zum Grant Canyon auch am Hoover Dam eine kurze Pause gemacht. In dem kleinen Kaff Seligman in Arizona haben wir in Lilo's Café eine Pause gemacht. Lilo(Liselotte) eine Deutsche führt das Lokal und natürlich wird dort im Oktober auf das Oktoberfest gefeiert, es gab dort einen Stammtisch und viele andere typisch deutsche Sachen, schon wirklich krass so etwas im nirgendwo zu finden.Als wir dann am Grant Canyon waren hatten wir circa 3 Stunden Zeit an einen Wanderweg entlang der Kante zu gehen. Unser Ziel war die bright Angel Lodge. Die Aussicht war unglaublich und es war Lettie's erstes mal an Canyon während es mein 3. mal war. Zurück in Las Vegas haben wir dann das Venetian Hotel Casino besucht und Tag oder besser gesagt die Nacht endete dann im Irish Pub am New York New York hotel welches neben unserem Hotel ist. Am nächsten Morgen sind wir dann im Luxor Hotel in den Pool gegangen, da unser Hotelpool unter Renovierung war mussten wir rüber ins Nachbarhotel, das Wetter war schön und wir hatten eine gute Zeit am Pool. Später dann sind wir ins Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas gegangen. Eine ziemlich getreue Kopie des Hofbräuhaus München, dort hat eine Band aus der Steiermark gespielt und natürlich gab es Schnitzel. Wir haben ein nettes Pärchen aus Auston Texas kennen gelernt und so ist die Zeit dann wie im Flug vergangen. Natürlich gab es auch einige bierhaltige Getränke und später sind wir dann mit dem Uber Taxi zurück ins Hotel. Der nächste Tag war unser Abreisetag trotzdem hatten wir noch bis 17:00 Uhr Zeit uns Las Vegas anzuschauen. Wir haben einige der großen Themen Casinos besucht hatten Mittagessen am strip und haben dann unser Gepäck im Hotel abgeholt und schon ging es zurück nach Calgary, wo wir noch eine Nacht verbracht haben da wir erst sehr spät angekommen sind und es geschneit hat und wir nicht auf der eisigen Straße nach Hause fahren wollten. Am nächsten Tag haben uns dann die Kinder mit einem Willkommen Schild empfangen und wir waren froh wieder vereinigt zu sein.
